New Job, New College, New Friends
08:24
I've just started at Reigate college doing 4 A levels (phsycology, business studies, economics and english lit/lang) which I'm loving, however starting somewhere new with all unfamiliar faces is difficult for anyone. Reigate college is huge and going from knowing everyone to no one has proven to be more scary than anticipated. Don't get me wrong everyone is lovely but it's going to take time to get to know people. The freedom that comes with being at Reigate is fab, the independence was scary at first, as if I didn't trust myself to turn up to my lessons but you get used to it quickly. Being so independent is great, theres no one nagging you to do anything, all you have to do is turn up and the rest of the time is free.
There's so much I love about Reigate, one of these things being all the activities they offer. If you're anything like me, when you hear activities you think 'pft no thanks' but everyone seemed to be so up for getting involved, so I went along and saw what was on offer and decided to sign up to a couple of activities. I've ended up doing spinning- which is turning out to be so fun and a great workout. I'm also doing an activity called shares 4 schools which I'm dragging my friend Kirsty- shoutout to Kirsty for sticking with it although she hates it, there could be some money to win!!
I've been at Reigate for 3 weeks now and the only thing I'm finding difficult is the adjustment of not seeing all my friends everyday. Most of my closest friends decided to stay on at our school sixth form so I constantly feel like I'm missing out on everything they're doing and I just miss them all so much (but this is probably the only downer to having gone to college). I know that in the long term the decision I made will be for the best. It's only early days at college so theres tons of friends to be made, everyones just warming up to each other. The people I've met so far have all been so lovely and it makes me excited to think about the next 2 years of being with these everyone!!
The next newest news is about my new job!! I'm going to be starting to work at Waitrose as of next weekend which I'm so excited about, however there's been a lot of commitment to secure this job (so you better appreciate me Waitrose). My first sacrifice was leaving my current job as a waitress in a cafe :( I loved this job so much as I've gotten to know all the customers over the year and have built some special friendships with the staff. I was extremely nervous about having to tell them that I was going to be leaving, but luckily for me my manager is one of the most supportive people ever and made it so much easier to talk to her. Thankfully I'll still be able to work there when they need extra help so I'm not completely abandoning them:)
I've also had to leave behind my dancing because of the job at Waitrose. I've been dancing for 9 years, since the age of 7, so this has been extremely difficult to give up. I suppose all good things must come to an end. My dance classes, work times and college timetable all clashed leaving me with no choice but to leave my dance school, which has been emotional to say the least.
I hope this post has allowed you to get to know me a bit better and given you an insight into what I'm up to. I don't usually have this much news to share so my posts won't often be like this! Thank you so much for taking the time to read it!
Love Always
